As Pants the Hart (Nahum Tate) Maddy Prior

1 Verse:
    D G/D D A D
As pants the hart for cooling streams
                                      A
When heated in the chase,
    D A Hm D7 G D A
So longs my soul, O God, for thee,
        D G D A D
And thy refreshing grace.

2 Verse:
For thee, my God, The living God
My thirsty soul does pine;
O when shall I behold thy face,
Thou majesty divine!

3 Verse:
God of my strength, how long shall I
Like one forgotten mourn
Forlorn, forsaken and exposed
To my oppressors scorn?

4 Verse:
Why, restless, why cast down, my soul?
Hope still, and thou shalt sing
The praise of Him who is thy God,
Thy health's eternal spring.
