I long for heaven, where Christ us awaits
Where there is consolation from falling tears
Where our troubles will disappear forever
Where the soul will forget its yearning

I long for heaven, when outside the window
The clouds fall in bloody rain
Evil in this world arises again and again
Yet I will not tire to call on You, God!

A wanderer and a stranger in this world 
am II know that heaven is my homeland 
After all my wanderings and earthly partings
God, in His great glory, awaits me as a Friend.

I long for heaven, when it is said 
The sun is darkened and the birds are silent
And the fields are covered with ashes, like snow
And, in a cloud of dust, the earth disappears

Don’t cry, don’t mourn, my soul
The city in heaven is ready for you
And if your home on earth is lost
God will fulfill everything in the Heavenly Land.
